Climate Change Hoax?

Fox News has been reporting this week that the Climate Research Unit(CRU) has been fudging reports and deleting e-mails to hide what they have been doing.

Wow... What the hell? You mean to tell me that, all the bullshit put forth by the CRU - and other environmentalist whackjobs - was just that?

Here is the article from Fox News(articles are italicized):

Hackers broke into the servers at a prominent British climate research center and leaked years worth of e-mail messages onto the Web, including one with a reference to a plan to "hide the decline" in temperatures.

The Internet is abuzz about the leaked data from the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit (commonly called Hadley CRU), which has acknowledged the theft of 61MB of confidential data.

Climate change skeptics describe the leaked data as a "smoking gun," evidence of collusion among climatologists and manipulation of data to support the widely held view that climate change is caused by the actions of mankind. The authors of some of the e-mails, however, accuse the skeptics of taking the messages out of context, adding that the evidence still clearly shows a warming trend.

The files were reportedly released on a Russian file-serve by an anonymous poster calling himself "FOIA."

In an exclusive interview in Investigate magazine's TGIF Edition, Phil Jones, the head of the Hadley CRU, confirmed that the leaked data is real.

"It was a hacker. We were aware of this about three or four days ago," he told the magazine, noting that the center has yet to contact the police about the data breach.

TGIF Edition asked Jones about the controversial "hide the decline" comment from an e-mail he wrote in 1999: "I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd [sic] from 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline."

He told the magazine that there was no intention to mislead, but he had "no idea" what he meant by those words.

"That was an e-mail from ten years ago. Can you remember the exact context of what you wrote ten years ago?" he said.

"Mike" refers to Jones' colleague Michael Mann, who told the New York Times that the "trick" was simply a way of solving a data problem. In this case, the warming trend of the last century was detected in tree-ring samples only until 1960, but it continued in thermometer readings.

Jones' word choice was poor, Mann told the Times, but the calculations were "not something secret."

The Telegraph has posted some of the more scathing excerpts from these emails, which the newspaper suggests points to manipulation of evidence and private doubts about the reality of global warming, though the much of the scientific language in the e-mails is esoteric and hard to interpret.

Others suggest the comments are simply "scientists talking about science." In an interview with Wired, Kevin Trenberth, head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, points out that "if you read all of these e-mails, you will be surprised at the integrity of these scientists."

Still, one notable e-mail from the hacked files clearly describes how to squeeze dissenting scientists from the peer review process:

"I think we have to stop considering Climate Research as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board…What do others think?"

But then, I find this article by The Guardian in the United Kingdom, stating that the University of East Aglia would be conducting an investigation on the e-mails and the CRU. Here is the article:

The University of East Anglia is to launch a review into the theft and online publication of hundreds of emails sent by scientists in its climate research unit.

Selected and unverified extracts from the emails have been used by climate change deniers to claim that the scientists colluded to manipulate climate data, causing a storm on deniers' blogs. The charge is rejected as "despicable" by those involved and as groundless by leading scientific bodies.

With less than two weeks before the crucial UN climate change summit in Copenhagen, climate scientists and campaigners are assessing the damage the incident has caused to the public understanding of global warming. Opinion was split last night over how to deal with the fallout.

Bob Ward, director of policy and communications at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change at the London School of Economics, called for an investigation.

"Once appropriate action has been taken over the hacking, there has to be some process to assess the substance of the email messages as well," he said.

"The selective disclosure and dissemination of the messages has created the impression of impropriety, and the only way of clearing the air now would be through a rigorous investigation. "

However, others said an investigation would be a mistake, particularly as some climate sceptics were also calling for one.

Andy Atkins, Friends of the Earth's executive director, said: "Calls for an inquiry look suspiciously like an attempt to cast doubt on the science of climate change ahead of crucial UN negotiations.

"The overwhelming majority of climate scientists believe that climate change is happening, that it is man-made, and that it poses a major threat to people across the planet. We can't afford to be distracted from the need for urgent action."

George Marshall, founder of the Climate Outreach and Information Network, said: "The UEA response has been frankly pathetic. One can only imagine that the UEA's communications team is totally out of its depth. A less charitable conclusion is that they are defending the interests of UEA and are not concerned about – or have not understood – the damage to climate science."

The Met Office, which jointly produces global temperature data with the climate research unit, said there was no need for an inquiry. "If you look at the emails, there isn't any evidence that the data was falsified and there's no evidence that climate change is a hoax," a spokesman said.

"It's a shame that some of the sceptics have had to take this rather shallow attempt to discredit robust science undertaken by some of the world's most respected scientists. It's no surprise, with the Copenhagen talks just days away, that this has happened now."

Michael Mann, director of the earth system science centre at the University of Pennsylvania, and a long-term target of sceptics, agreed the timing was suspicious.

"What appears to have happened is that going into this monumental climate summit in a couple of weeks the other side, which does not favour taking action to combat climate change, resorted to an illegal smear campaign," he said.

"They are going through them and cherry-picking them for any word they can find that is cited out of context and can appear incriminating. I think it's despicable."

He told the Guardian the emails – though embarrassing – did not undermine the body of science. "This doesn't make any difference at all in degree of consensus on climate change," Mann said. "I hope it boomerangs back on the criminals."

A joint statement from the Met Office, Royal Society and the Natural Environment Research Council said: "The scientific evidence which underpins calls for action at Copenhagen is very strong.

"Without co-ordinated international action on greenhouse gas emissions, the impacts on climate and civilisation could be severe."

So there it is. Two different articles. One, full out claiming(basically) that Climate Change is a hoax by CRU and their ilk. The second, more cautious - and with a bit of disbelief - and willing to wait until a review is in before condemning it. So far, Fox News is the only news organization that has reported about the e-mail leak. Which is a bit worriesome for me. They are news organizations, it's their job to report things like this, even if it goes against their political affiliations.

Anywho, I thought others would like to read this as well, so I posted it for you. I want your take on this. Is it a bunch of B.S.? Or, is there some truth to either article? Are you on the fence on this? Have at it!

Die Beck Die

It started a few days ago when I read some screamin' liberal (liar) media report of the Glenn Beck gathering in Florida last weekend. The moron was fearful of Beck, of course, but what caught my attention was something else the guy said that had a ring of truth...

It was about Beck calling people to action and the resulting personal enrichment he was getting for it from books sales and appearances, not to mention ratings. I had to admit that it was slightly troubling that Beck might be profiting from the many crises created by the incompetent and crooked Obanimal and his pack of dogs.

Then yesterday, Beck mentioned that he would be conducting seminars next year on how to mobilize and win. "Fine," I screamed, "As long as you don't charge for them!"

Then today something real happened... Beck was talking to some financial guy from Britain (which automatically makes him less credible), and Beck proposed a value-added tax. I started yelling every swear word I could think of, but then I paused for a moment when it sunk in that not only had Beck proposed a value-added tax, he had done so matter-of-factly.

No conservative/libertarian would ever do such a thing, much less do so blithely. Period.

There have been a few times over the years that I have become unglued at Beck's hand. One that comes to mind is also current.

Beck is now playing up the "global warming" fraud that's been uncovered, as he well should. The problem is that last year I heard him tell someone that he believed in global warming, and no, I didn't misunderstand and my memory isn't fuzzy - because I started screaming then too.

So the question is: when is enough enough? I mean, I've never really liked Beck but he's right about the overall problems and who's responsible for them, and he's not partial to Republicans the way most conservatives are so he's not all bad. And he hasn't cried in some time, so that's a plus, but I not only don't trust someone who would propose such a hideous tax, I feel I can never trust him because now his idea is out there.

I can only hope he'll feel the kind of heat he wants us to put on Congress and the President because any new taxes are unacceptable, and a value-added tax is unforgivable.

J.R. Salzman(U.S. Army) and PTSD...

A soldier by the name of J.R. Salzman - I am unsure of his rank - was wounded in Iraq a few years ago and has PTSD from the events that occured there. This month he wrote a blog post about the attack at Fort Hood, and the MSM's reaction to it. I am going to repost his words here in their entirety, as he has already said them far better than what I fould come up with.

Here are his words - if you wish to read peoples responses to his blog post, the link is provided above(his words are italicized):

I’m more than a little angry right now. Yes, I’m irate that some sh-tbag Major (“sh-tbag” is often used as a technical term in the Army) opened fire on a group of his fellow Soldiers killing 12 and wounding 30. But that’s not even what is under my skin right now. What is bothering me is the general reaction of our media and those stupid enough to think this was not an act of terrorism, but was caused by supposed PTSD caused at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

You want to know what PTSD is like? I'll tell you. You have nightmares that go on for weeks. Mine would always be the same. Wherever the window was in the room in which I was sleeping I would see a bright white flash. I would wake up screaming to my wife “Get up! Get the f-ck up! An IED just went off!” Sometimes I would just wake up screaming in agony as I relived the moment where my right arm was ripped from my body by an Iranian shape charge. (I may not know what childbirth feels like, but I know what it's like to go an hour with my arm ripped off without painkillers (I'm allergic to morphine).) PTSD makes you paranoid as hell. “Why is that person staring at me? Are they a threat? Where is the nearest exit? Why are these people so close to me? Why is no one pulling security? What was that noise? Where is the nearest cover?

I need to get out of here.” You lie wide awake in bed at night wondering if it's safe to go to sleep or if you should get up and start pulling security. When I got home from Walter Reed and started college (a week later, stupid idea) I would often stay up for days at a time without sleeping. Eventually my body would completely shut down from exhaustion and I would sleep for 12 hours or more only to complete the cycle all over again. (I still cannot believe I got all As and Bs.) Since I was injured in a humvee I am especially susceptible on the road to the effects of my PTSD. I still get nervous and hold my breath every time I drive by a piece of trash or tire debris on the shoulder or median. I avoid guardrails and broken down cars on the side of the road. On a couple different occasions I yelled out “tire!” to warn my wife (who was driving) of a potential IED in the road. There was nothing there (no tire, no nothing). One late night while driving home completely exhausted on our small two lane country roads at slow speed I locked up all four tires on my car to keep from hitting a cardboard box in the middle of the road. At that moment I would have bet the contents of my bank account it was an IED. That's what PTSD is like. At no point in time have I ever felt the desire or need to grab a weapon and go shoot someone or something up. At no point in time have I ever grabbed a weapon and broken a law because I felt the need to protect myself. PTSD urges you mitigate the risk of events that happened in your life. But if you've never had anything traumatic happen in your life, you can't have PTSD.

If you can get PTSD from treating soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center then why the hell haven't more people snapped? Why haven't all the therapists in physical therapy and occupational therapy, and all the staff on Ward 57 ran around shooting up the place? They have seen far more wounded Soldiers than this POS ever did. My occupational and physical therapists, like many of the civilian personnel at Walter Reed, have been there since the beginning of OEF. They have taken care of countless (probably hundreds) Soldiers with a variety of different injuries. Missing arms (like me). Missing legs. Missing both. Missing parts of the face. Severe burns. Whole chunks of the skull missing. Missing jaws. Ears. Eyes. Severe PTSD. Severe TBI (traumatic brain injury) to the point that Soldiers would forget where they were going while walking the 50 feet from physical therapy to occupational therapy (they would be found wandering the halls unsure where they were supposed to be going. I had a buddy who used to do that walking the 20 feet to prosthetics. My TBI is bad, but not that bad).

So why haven't they gone crazy? Because you don't get PTSD from sitting on your ass around Walter Reed. Not only is it not possible to “catch” secondhand PTSD, but it is not that kind of a place. I would know, I was a patient there for nine months. The place is simply not that stressful or chaotic. When I was there my PTSD got better, not worse. And I would be willing to bet my dog tags that I saw far more wounded Soldiers than sh-t bag Major did during our overlapping time there in 2007. I regularly visited Ward 57 to give advice to the new wounded. Other Soldiers and amputees did it for me when I was there so I considered my visits “paying it forward”. I had daily physical and occupational therapy with other Soldiers. I regularly partook in activities in and out of Walter Reed with present and past wounded Soldiers. To say that this guy got PTSD from being stationed at Walter Reed is an absolute farce. The people who are making this sh-t up have never set foot on Walter Reed, let alone met a soldier with PTSD.

First, I would like to thank everyone who has been reading my thoughts and passing them around the web. When I decided to write this it was not my intention to create something that would go viral. I was simply blowing off steam and debunking yet another ridiculous claim by our fact-less media. Second, I feel it is necessary to address my rather colorful language in this post. A day or so after I wrote this, I went back and reread it and thought “wow… I sure did swear a lot!” As regular readers (all three of them) can attest, I almost never include such expletives in my writing. So how did they come to be? It has to do with the way I “type.” The IED that almost killed me left me with four remaining fingers, only three of which somewhat work (my pinky is just “along for the ride”). So when I type something long like this blog post, I use my voice recognition software. So I'm not actually “typing,” I'm talking. When I'm very angry and I talk I tend to throw around an expletive here and there, like any good combat Soldier should to prove his worth with the English language. Unfortunately, such language tends to turn off much of the general public, and tends to retract from the overall statement being made. So I decided to clean up the language to a more PG-13 rating so that it will possibly get bit more exposure. Please realize I am not doing this so that I can get more attention, but rather to protect the good name of my fellow Soldiers and all the hard-working folks at Walter Reed Army Medical Center by debunking some of the BS being perpetuated by our media. Dear Everybody,

I am Andrea Angelika Aszalos, writer of the novel

BEHIND THE SILENCE... Confessions of a porcelain-painter artist (published by Bastogi - 2008 - Italy) and I am presenting on this Blog site a very important part of my life: my Mother's, Éva Aszalós and my Sister's, Hajnalka Aszalós', works of art of porcelain-painting, and the oil paintings of my Mother. My mother and my sister are porcelain-painter artists and have made many sacrifices so that could be born that singular world that I am presenting on this blog-site to you. For these ”sacrifices” and struggles for the survival that are behind this World of Beauty, I’ve written the novel by the title ”Behind the Silence”, which has been published in June 2008 by an Italian publishing house.

I recommend the Synopsis of this revealing Novel and every world of my letter with all of my belief in the moral force, to your attention and to the attention of everybody who has love in their heart and who are thirsting for the rarely appearing pure mirror of the naked truth about a world that is not allowed to seen by some interests.

About three years ago I promised my mother that a day I would take a pen, and write down the situations, that so many times has crossed our life - and also in themselves could be material of a sketch or a short story - and which are derived from my mother's and my sister's rare profession and from the strange social and "art-political" atmosphere, by which is characterized this little country. At that time I didn’t thought that this "moment" would come so early, and could become pressing for our life.

I can present on this site only a little part of the work of a whole life, and so the Familiar Collection made up in the long years, which contains more than 700 works of art. Among these works of art that has been being internationally signed on the world for more than 10 years, there are many irreplaceable items, presented at that time also in the National Museum of the Applied Arts of Budapest.

The novel I have written (Behind the Silence… Confessions of a porcelain-painter artist, - June 2008 Bastogi) elaborating real events, is based on documents and correspondences, and touching some personalities of huge influence, presents, through my Mother’s life, the defenceless situation of the contemporary artists of our days for the economic policy, and how do the fights of interests, arising from this, ruin the life of some wonderful artists and persons.

For the last years’ happenings neither for moral points of view nor for other reasons there was no other choice for my family but to disclose to the World all that things that my family had to live through this singular and rare field of art in the peculiar social and ”art-political” atmosphere that characterize Hungary. …and so to describe all those things that are hidden Behind the Silence.

Behind the Silence... Confessions of a porcelain-painter artist

My novel, which I have written on the basis of documents, correspondences and my mother’s memories, stands on a lived life’s real events.

It’s about my mother, about a beautiful, but by today broken person’s feelings, of a peculiar lot, and about the events hiding behind them. In the mirror of these, I show how the Politics – demanding part also from the values of Art – make impossible and sentence to death a family in the country of a tragically incompatible nation with its own sons. Through the peculiarities of the Hungarian society’s different strata, I present the contemporary art’s position in our time; the condition of the contemporary artists, who are at the mercy of the ”Fews’ interests”; and the invisible court of law, that shutters some wonderful artists’ life, annihilating them in their human quality. Within the contemporary art, I introduce my readers into that rare branche of Art, on which nearly three-hundred years ago emperors and bishops spent enormous wealths, and which even now is famous for its prestige all over the world: in the unbelievably colourful World of the Porcelains, full of intrigues, which is honoured by the name „White gold”;.

My novel, as I’ve written, is about my mother, about a delicate woman’s tempestuous course of life full of vicissitudes, whom God has given a present to, with some very exceptional endowements, and filled her heart with many love, belief and spiritual force, so that she could struggle against the dams ruining with slow death of a soured society by its own poison. Her singular sensitivity and the special field of art where her unusual skill has carried her, made her know and see many human faces, which meetings has brought in her life many pleasure, but also many suffering.

In one of the highland villages of a strange and formerly leggendary nation, settled in the Center of Europe not much more than one-thousand years ago, is born in the january of 1956, in the year of the revolution ended in massacre, that young girl, who is forced by her environment to escape already when she is a child, at hardly thirteen years old, so that she could ”arrive” as far as possible from the reality which has conducted her family to tragedy that cost her mother’s life. For her mother’s desire expressed in her ultimate letter, she is raised further on, in a small town at her uncle, where she has to face many cruelty alone. Notwithstanding, this town brings her also those meetings of her life, which give her a spiritual force which seems invincible, and a belief which doesn’t know impossible, for her further struggles. Two loves, lived for a life, carry her on in a two-faced world’s maze: the Porcelain-pinting, whose art she acquire in this place, and a strangely ”double-souled” Man, with whom she forms the most holy bond, and founds a family. Her first daughter, Hajnalka is born here, just like her desire, becoming into decision in her soul, to breake with her past again and definitively.

She moves into the beautifully situated Szeged, in the Great Hungarian Plain’s loveliest town, famous for its cultural life and for the high standard of the musical education, so that she could give to her children everithing that she missed in her youth. Andrea, her second child is born here, and she is seduced by an other very nice profession, by the fashion, which she start in with the same enthusiasm and pleasure, with which at that time she did the painting of pictures and porcelains. After the alternation of relatively balanced and tempestuous periods, after successes and enormous failure at the end, finally she returns to the Porcelain-painting, to that her dream which has been always living in her. The financial conditions to found an independent porcelain-painter studio are given to her only by this time.

Into the secrets of this splendid craft, which preservs tradition, but still includes in itself renewal, she introduces her first-born child, Hajnalka, and in few years is born a promising, fabulous and rich world by their hands. Spellbound by the Secessionist style, she works out colours which, with their profundity and peculiar light-refraction, are entirely unique on the world, and in the years, she discovers the producition-method of the world-famed glaze named Eozin, which has been being kept as secret since one hundred years, and to which she gives the name of Moonlight (Holdfény) because of its mysterious glittering of metallic lustre, shining in the most beatiful tints of the green colour, and for her respect for Vilmos Zsolnay.

She has high hopes for the porcelain-painting: she feels from the ”beginning” that it means for her the ultimate possibility of put in order her daughters’ and her own life. And she doesn’t think that, with the beautiul craft, she is happened in a ”viper’s nest” climbing until the highest social strata, which is invisible, far and maybe incredible for many people, but for her is inevitable, mortal and mortally real. Her Mother-country, this country unable to restore itself to health maybe for ever, whose history was full of vicissitudes, cause her more and more disappointment. In other form: slipped into more decorated garment, concealed behind new faces’ new masks, but she meets the same forces which has exiled her from the little highland village.

Under the burden of an incurable disease, forming in her meanwhile, and because of the glacial air of the shutting doors’ wind, her great belief and spiritual force leave her more and more.

The last year’s struggles mean for her, life or death in the real meaning of the word.

Remember when believing in man-made "global warming" was cool? May I ask, who was the first person you thought of when you heard read that it's gone bust?

So Doxie, what do you have to say now? Now that every argument I advanced was right on the money?

Peer review? Do you recall what I said about it? Something about it being crap?

The models? How did I put it... they're garbage?

Your reasoning? How did I characterize it? Moronic?

My position on social/political spectrum

With the compass ranging in extremes from far left, to far right, and from libertarian, to authoritarian, my results were:

I am primarily opposed to intervention (especially military) in the affairs of our global neighbors. (I sometimes make exceptions, as in the case of obvious indications of a nation, or other militant group forcefully and actively seeking global domination, and/or genocide.) It is all too easy for a country that seeks to solve the world's problem, such as, through military intervention, to create a bigger mess. Such as, by arming and training one side that later uses the weapons and training against the country that previously aided that side. Also by sending troops and others representing one's country to "help" people, but without proper training and oversight which results in creating more problems for those people, thus giving them reason to believe that they were better off before the foreigners butted into their affairs. The amount of American meddling and coercion of our global neighbors has a lot, or everything to do with why my government and military and much of our society keeps attracting more enemies, including those that want to kick our asses off the face off the Earth.

I also believe that people often choose violence as a quick and convenient response for lack of desire, knowledge and wisdom to seek a non-violent and more effective way. To me, that's indicative of intellectual and ethical weakness. It is little wonder why most people in my country did not recognize the industrial, economic and trade warfare tactics being used against us for over a decade and on a grander scale since March 2003.

I have my personal views regarding issues, like abortion, but I do not believe that the government should dictate whether, or not abortion should be legal. I am also opposed to forced abortion by a government, or any other entity.

Although, the argument over gay rights and gay marriage has no personal and direct impact on my personal liberties and on the quality of my life, I believe that we were all created equal and are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I oppose discrimination and oppression.

In the Political Quiz at politicalquiz.net I strongly took issue with one description of my views, based on the quiz results. However, most were rather accurate.

The scores are based on a gradual range of 0 to 12. For instance, a Conservative/Progressive score of 3 and 0 will both yield a result of social conservative, yet 0 would be an extreme conservative and 3 a moderate conservative.

That's so wrong. I am non-partisan. The Democratic politicians piss me off as much as the Republicans. One side goes about it differently than the other, except where nearly all of them sell us out to the plutocrats that bribe them.

Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, or in political parlance, CPRS. The operative word in the phrase being 'Scheme' because there's absolutely nothing in emissions trading which reduces carbon pollution. So much for the pre-Copenhagen hooplah, what with freebie hand-outs to all major polluting industries to keep them politically on side, giving the federal opposition nothing to wield in the ever-running battle to 'hold the government to account'. Of course, the consumer will still bear the brunt of any cost factors which happen to sneak through, and there's no freebie handouts to 22 million Australians.

I wonder how many Australians have woken up to the reality of the federal Labor government with the highest popularity ratings of all time, having lied to the electorate which put them into power? CPRS is better considered an acronym of Completely Political Road Show. Either way the so-called negotiations go, Rudd wins, Turnbull loses and the status quo insofar as industry is concerned, remains unchanged. Then it's off to Copenhagen for another bun fight to produce even less than the Kyoto bun fight eventually produced.

We're a sad & sorry species. Too gutless to make the big decisions. Too motivated by the pretence of power to think beyond the electoral cycle.

Rev. Dobson, There's the Door

James Dobson has gone on record that if any of his taxes go to pay for abortions, he would not pay, and he and his wife would gladly go to prison or even - he dared to say - "leave this beloved country and spend the rest of our lives in exile."

Neither the House nor Senate version of the Health Care bill would use taxpayer monies to fund abortions. The Hyde Amendment is still fully intact, despite what opponents of health care reform are claiming. But, don't let that stop you, James. You are perfectly free to leave. Abortion is illegal in most Muslim countries - I'm sure they'd be happy to take you and your entire Theocratic following. I would happily throw a few dollars toward a fund to buy you all a big cruise ship to take you wherever the hell you want to go, so long as you promise to never come back.
